René Frank, renowned for pioneering new paths in fine dining pastry, has joined the lineup of Gastromasa 2025, which will take place on November 6–7 at the Haliç Congress Center under the theme “Stories of 10 Years.” Honored as “Pastry Chef of the Year” by five prestigious institutions and awarded the title of “World’s Best Pastry Chef” by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants and The Best Chef Awards, Frank continues to redefine the world of pastry with his two-Michelin-starred restaurant CODA.
Who is René Frank?
His name sits at the top of global upscale gastronomy: René Frank is one of the most renowned star chefs and pastry chefs internationally. He has received the coveted title of “Pastry Chef of the Year” five times (2013, 2016, 2019, 2020, 2022) including from the likes of Gault&Millau and Rolling Pin. He also holds two highly respected “Best Pastry Chef” titles internationally; from “The World’s 50 Best Restaurants (2022) and The Best Chef Awards (2024). Through CODA, his culinary skills have been recognised with 2 Michelin stars and as one of “The World’s 50 Best Restaurants” (62nd place, 2024).
René Frank tests the limits of what is possible and breaks new ground. He thinks progressively, experiments boldly and lives to create the unprecedented. In addition to international experience, in Germany, he has also made his mark at the 3-Michelin-star restaurant “la vie“. As head pastry chef there for many years, he honed his craft and skills to perfection.
In 2016, he fulfilled his dream of opening his own restaurant with CODA. At his side are Julia A. Leitner as head chef and co-founder and business partner Oliver Bischoff.
