Renowned chef Matt Abé, best known for his longtime leadership at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, has officially begun work on his first solo restaurant project, Bonheur by Matt Abé. The new venture is set to open in autumn 2025 in the heart of London’s Mayfair, occupying the historic site of the iconic Le Gavroche.
Describing the upcoming restaurant as “a place of escape,” Abé revealed that Bonheur will reflect a personal and deeply considered vision, supported by the Gordon Ramsay group. The project marks a significant new chapter in Abé’s culinary journey while breathing new life into a venue with decades of heritage.
In an interview with Restaurantonline, Abé shared: “We’re reviving an iconic space—creating something warm, uplifting, timeless, and comfortable without being overwhelming. It’s about celebrating community, craftsmanship, and the abundance of the British Isles.”
Named after the French word for “happiness,” Bonheur will offer both à la carte and tasting menu options. The restaurant will focus on seasonality, ingredient quality, and a contemporary culinary style centered on personalized dining experiences. Known for his meticulous attention to detail, Abé aims to blend tradition with modernity in both technique and presentation.
A standout feature of the space will be Petit Bonheur, an intimate chef’s table designed for up to six guests. This exclusive setting will allow diners to experience Abé’s culinary philosophy up close in a more interactive and immersive environment.
With Bonheur by Matt Abé, London’s fine dining scene welcomes a highly anticipated addition that promises to fuse innovation with heritage in a truly unique dining experience.
