The internationally acclaimed Rasmus Munk, founder and head chef of Alchemist, will be among the special guests of this year’s Gastromasa International Gastronomy Conference, set to take place in Istanbul on November 6–7, 2025, marking its milestone 10th edition.
Held at the Haliç Congress Center under the theme “Stories of 10 Years”, Gastromasa 2025 will once again bring together pioneering professionals from the global gastronomy scene, shaping the future of the industry. One of the standout names gracing this year’s event is the world-renowned culinary innovator, Chef Rasmus Munk of Denmark.
Recognized as a “kitchen innovator,” Chef Munk is known for his boundary-pushing interpretation of cuisine, which transcends traditional cooking. He combines gastronomy with performance art, visual-audio elements, and scientific techniques, creating what he calls a holistic cuisine experience.
Who is Rasmus Munk?
Globally celebrated Danish chef Rasmus Munk took his first major step in his career at the age of 22, becoming head chef at TreeTop Restaurant in Vejle. Known for his experimental approach to textures and flavors, Munk opened his first restaurant, Alchemist, in 2015 in Copenhagen. After a two-year transformation, he reopened Alchemist in 2019 in a former shipyard in Refshaleøen, bringing his visionary concept of Holistic Cuisine to life.
The reimagined Alchemist spans over 2,000 square meters and offers a multi-sensory experience through a tasting journey of 45–50 edible impressions. These are complemented by performance art, installations, and architecture. At the heart of the restaurant lies a massive planetarium-style dome, where guests dine surrounded by immersive projections—ranging from representations of the Northern Lights to jellyfish drifting serenely among plastic bags.
Munk’s culinary philosophy engages all the senses, not just taste. Drawing inspiration from theatre, art, science, and technology, he delivers a layered, emotional, and thought-provoking dining experience. By merging products in unexpected ways and working with the highest quality ingredients, Munk creates a narrative-driven culinary universe that has earned widespread acclaim.
In 2024, he was named The Best Chef in the World by The Best Chef Awards, receiving the prestigious Three Knives accolade. Alchemist currently holds two Michelin stars and was ranked 5th on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list for 2025. The restaurant has also topped the Opinionated About Dining (OAD) list five years in a row.
Gastromasa’s 10th anniversary edition promises to be an unforgettable celebration of culinary excellence, and the presence of Rasmus Munk ensures a journey into the extraordinary.
