World-famous chef Daniel Boulud brings his 2 Michelin star restaurant, Restaurant DANIEL, to his guests with a new name and concept.

World-famous chef Daniel Boulud reopened his acclaimed restaurant, Restaurant DANIEL, on September 30 under the name ‘Boulud Sur Mer’. As well as the name change, the restaurant will offer a casual pop-up dining experience of southern France, with a completely different look evoking the south of France with vibrant fabrics and wallpapers using the sailboats, trees and bright colours of the Mediterranean. “We wanted to create an illusion of something different,” Boulud says in a phone interview, adding, “No one went to the south of France this summer. I thought, ‘Let me take them there.’ We will make it like a party in Cannes, a party in St. Tropez.”

The new concept, which is scheduled to remain open until November 30, opened under the sponsorship of world-famous luxury brands such as Evian water, Lavazza Premium Coffees Corp., and Daou Vineyards and the undisclosed money donation was spent on costs such as renovations and new uniforms. Boulud said he could not afford to redesign the dining area, and added, “You see the restaurant world. No one is making any money—it is about survival.”

The Boulud Sur Mer menu will feature southern French staples such as salt-baked whole fish with herbs of Provence, and a classic, fragrant bouillabaisse. Prices will be about 20% lower than they were before the pandemic, with a prix fixe menu served inside for around $125. Outside, an à la carte menu will be served to customers seated in colorful customized cabanas that will be introduced next week for colder weather.
