Danny Yip, founder and chef of The Chairman, one of Hong Kong’s leading Cantonese restaurants, has been awarded the Icon Award in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2024.

Founded by Danny Yip in 2009, The Chairman has made a name for itself with its innovative interpretations of Chinese Cantonese cuisine. Yip, who was first ranked in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2011, also received the Icon Award in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2024.

The recipient of this award, which is bestowed upon names that make significant contributions to the world of gastronomy, Yip stated, “This award is not only an honor for me but also for The Chairman team. It serves as a constant source of motivation, reminding us of the greater heights we can reach in the days ahead.”

“We create our own recipes”

By reinterpreting Cantonese cuisine with clever touches, Chef Danny Yip has become one of the pioneers of Chinese cuisine in the 15 years the restaurant has been open. He explains the source of this success by saying, “At The Chairman, we follow our own path and create our own recipes.”
