Thousands of restaurant owners in Italy are preparing to open their doors as a civil disobedience movement against COVID-19 safety measures.
Around 50.000 restaurants are expected to partake in the movement which started on social media with the hashtag “ioapro” meaning “I’m opening” in Italian. The movement spread through the whole country in a short amount of time after a bar owner from Cagliari wrote he will open his bar on January 3rd. Restaurants owners who have been working with take-away and delivery menus, agreed to collectively open their restaurants on Friday, January 15th.
