Bulgari Hotels & Resorts has announced plans for a new property in Rome. The hotel, which is expected to open in 2022, represents something of a homecoming for a brand that was first founded in the Italian capital in 1884.

The hotel will be brought to life in the building in Piazza Augusto Imperatore, next to the mausoleum where the Great Roman Emperor Augusto was buried. Built between 1936 and 1938, the building will undergo extensive renovations by the Italian architectural firm Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel.

The restaurant at the new Bulgari Hotel Rome, which has more than 100 rooms, many of which are suites, will be curated by Michelin-starred chef Niko Romito, Elite Traveler reported. Il Ristorante and Bulgari Bar will be located on the top floor to provide guests with unique views of the city. Among other luxury amenities, such as a world-class spa and state-of-the-art gym, Bulgari Hotel Rome will host a unique reading room with a valuable collection of books dedicated to the history of jewellery.
