As Europe continues to enforce social distancing rules and new restrictions to combat the COVID-19 wave, restaurants and bars are open in Spain’s capital, Madrid, attracting hundreds of tourists. Restaurants and bars in Madrid are open between 11:00 and 06:00. According to local media, 2,500 French tourists were counted in a single weekend.

According to Jaime Velazquez from Euronews: “Madrid has taken a different approach to Covid-19, allowing more activity in the tourism and hospitality sector because it employs 13% of the Spanish workforce. And with four million unemployed in the country, they are trying to strike a balance between health and the economy.”
