On July 25, 2023, Brasserie Astoria, a new restaurant by the Frantzén Group, will open its doors in Singapore. Björn Frantzén, the acclaimed Swedish chef known for his three-MICHELIN-starred restaurants Frantzén in Stockholm and Zén in Singapore, is expanding his culinary ventures in Asia with this latest addition.

Located in the prestigious Victoria Concert Hall, Brasserie Astoria marks the restaurant’s first venture outside of Sweden. Inspired by its renowned Stockholm flagship situated in the former Astoria Cinema, the Singapore outpost features 100 seats, a private dining room for 10 guests, and a bar and lounge area accommodating 22 people.

The menu at Brasserie Astoria in Singapore, curated by local head chef Emil Cecil Ess, who previously worked at Zén, offers a wide range of dishes available à la carte. Highlights include Råraka, a Swedish variation of rösti, consisting of crispy Agria potatoes topped with vendace roe. Another signature dish is Toast Astoria, a modern take on the traditional Swedish Toast Skagen, featuring generous portions of Baltic prawns and Norwegian king crab dressed with wasabi aioli, served on crisp sourdough bread. Complementing the cuisine, the restaurant boasts an extensive wine list and a unique cocktail menu, combining Nordic influences with Asian flavors.

Björn Frantzén expresses his excitement about introducing Brasserie Astoria to Singapore’s vibrant dining scene, following the success of Zén. He looks forward to showcasing another facet of the Frantzén Group’s culinary creativity to the city’s discerning food enthusiasts.
