Liverpool’s mayor has proposed plans to build more outdoor seating areas in the city decorated in European style to help companies make up for the internal space they would lose as a result of social distancing restrictions.

Mayor Joe Anderson today announced a new £450,000 project to redesign the outdoor spaces in Liverpool, working with Liverpool BID Company and the Chamber of Commerce, as well as designers. It is not expected that restrictions on bars and restaurants will be lightened until early July, but the city is “willing to get ready in the coming months to be as accessible and safe as possible.” The move is hoped to ‘ensure that many independent bars and restaurants can continue to trade safely.’
