This summer, Mandarin Oriental in Doha will host celebrity chef Izu Ani for a menu of Mediterranean specialties at its eponymous restaurant, IZU, from July 15 to July 20. Chef Izu’s philosophy is simple and delicious dishes that focus on carefully selected ingredients.

Named Best Mediterranean Restaurant by Fact Dining Awards, IZU offers a blend of modern and traditional Mediterranean cuisine. Growing up in London, chef Izu’s passion for cuisine started with home economics classes at school. After his education in London, Izu went to France to experience Nouvelle cuisine, which influenced his culinary style and developed his talent for French flavors. Considered one of the new food pioneers of the region, Chef Izu has had experience working in famous restaurants such as the two Michelin starred La Bastide Saint Antoine and the world renowned, three Michelin starred Auberge de L’ill. While his style is firmly rooted in French cooking tradition, the Chef’s use of innovative flavors and techniques is often described as “modern Mediterranean,” resulting in perfectly and original dishes.
