U.S. President Joe Biden said that restaurants should pay their staff more, as restaurant employees are negatively affected by the pandemic process. Calling for restaurant workers, Biden stated that many restaurants took their workers on leave during the pandemic, so the benefits some workers received deter them from returning to full-time work. “A lot of restaurant workers have decided that they don’t want to do that anymore because there are other opportunities at higher wages, because there’s a lot of openings now, jobs,” said Biden.

Expressing that the 7 or 8 dollar tip is not enough to attract workers back to the kitchen and people have decided that they have opportunities to do other things, Biden mentioned that restaurant workers should be encouraged by restaurant operators.
