Big Table Group, behind Las Iguanas, Bella Italia and Café Rouge in the UK, is testing a new trend in restaurant business. The group began experimenting with robot waiters they named “BellaBot” at Bella Italia in Center Parcs Whinfell Forest.

Robot waiters produced by Pudu Robotics are designed to support restaurant staff. Robots with four shelves in their body parts can interact with customers while delivering orders. Robots, which have helpful features for restaurant staff such as picking up dirty dishes or serving short distances, can even sing “Happy Birthday” to customers who have a birthday if they are programmed.

In a statement on BellatBot, Bella Italia COO Lisa Gibbons said, “We’re always open to innovative solutions which benefit our teams, improve service and improve our guests’ experience, so we’re delighted to pilot the BellaBot. By having intelligent robots conduct simple tasks, such as retrieving dirty dishes, our teams are able to focus on doing what they love and delivering an amazing experience.”
