The UK Government decided to impose new sanctions on Russia during the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. Luxury products such as silver and caviar were also included in the list of products with an import ban.

Customs duty will increase to 35% on products imported from Russia and Belarus, such as tea, animal or vegetable oils, sugar, flour, and meat. It is stated that the exports from these two countries are worth about 130 million pounds. According to Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak, the total value of the bans on Russian goods is over £1 billion.

The UK had increased tariffs by 35% on certain products, such as Russian vodka and fish, in March.
