Alain Ducasse will receive the Congress’ Respect Award “for everything he symbolizes on the international gastronomy scene”. In his speech in San Sebastián, the chef will give details of the new restaurant he plans to open in Paris with Albert Adrià, who will also be performing in Kursaal.

The management at San Sebastian Gastronomika Euskadi Basque Country unanimously selected chef Alain Ducasse for the event’s top honor award. Ducasse will receive the award during the opening ceremony, after taking the stage with Albert Adrià to give some details of what is said to be Paris’ most exclusive restaurant for a few months.

Details of the project will be announced at San Sebastian Gastronomika Euskadi Basque Country before receiving the Ducasse Honor Award “Not only for the man with the most Michelin stars in the world, but for everything he stands for and symbolizes on the international gastronomy scene: the location of the Mediterranean, based on tradition but every time-forward naturalness and creativity, in short, a style that inspires and continues to inspire future generations”

The opening ceremony and the Respect Award will signal the start of the world’s oldest gastronomy congress in 2021, between 14-17 November.

Gastronomika 21 will feature French and Spanish chefs as well as classic representatives from other countries, including two great South American chefs. Alex Atala from DOM (São Paulo) and chef Virgilio Martínez from Central (Lima, Peru), one of the leading historical figures of Brazilian cuisine, was recently declared the fourth best restaurant in the world by The 50 Best Restaurants.

Gastronomika’21 will once again be an on-site event and attendees will now be able to purchase tickets on the congress website. In accordance with the criteria declared by the health authorities, the event will take place in the main auditorium, various rooms and also the fairground.
