The restaurant sector, the fourth largest sector in Canada, asked support for its employees, leases and the future of its restaurants in this challenging and uncertain period.

In Canada, the restaurant industry said in a press release that many restaurants will have difficulty paying rent, employees, suppliers and banks in April. Industry pioneers also said it was Canada’s fourth-largest sector with revenue of $ 90 billion, with 1.3 million employees, with 7% of the country’s workforce owned by the restaurant sector. The statement also underlined that 1.3 million people are at risk unless support is provided, and called for April’s rent payment, additional assistance to employees where life is more expensive than elsewhere in the country, and for support in flexing bank loans and structuring these loans.
