Floyd Cardoz, the famous Indian chef who managed to impress American cuisine with Indian flavours, died yesterday after his coronavirus diagnosis on March 18.

After completing his education in Switzerland, Indian chef Cardoz came to New York to introduce the tastes of his own country to the United States and brought a new breath to fine dining restaurants in New York in particular. When he arrived in New York in 1988, Cardoz started to work at “Lespinasse” and he left here to open “Tabla” with Danny Meyer. Chef Cardoz, who received 4 James Beard Award nominations with ”Tabla,” had been the sought-after spot of Indian-American fine dining in Manhattan for 12 years. Floyd Cardoz, who was the head of many restaurants in America and India during his working life, proved himself once again by winning the “Top Chef Masters” title.

The chef, who returned to the United States from India after filming Netflix’s “Ugly Delicious,” admitted he felt bad and was diagnosed coronavirus on March 18. He tried to inform his lovers with statements after his diagnosis but the sad news came from Hunger Inc. Hospitality on 25 March.
