Chef Montserrat Fontané, the owner of the Can Roca restaurant and the mother of the Roca brothers, was awarded the Gourmet Català de l’Any this Wednesday for her long and successful career.

Catalonia’s Gourmet Group gathered in Mas Marroch (Girona) last night to celebrate the sixth edition of Gourmet Night. Pere Aragonés, President of the Generalitat de Catalunya; Generalitat’s Minister of Business, Albert Castellanos; Carmel Mòdol, Food Secretary, Division of Climate Action, Food and the Rural Agenda; Laia Cañigueral, Government Delegate in Girona; Miquel Noguer, president of Diputació de Girona, and David Mascort, mayor of Vilablareix, attended.

Roca brothers’ mother, Montserrat Fontané, was honored with the 2021 Catalan Gourmet Award for her long career in Can Roca’s kitchen. Josep Roca said, “Celler de Can Roca is an example and a source of inspiration for his entire family.”
The winners of the night are as follows:

-Chef Montserrat Fontané from Can Roca, the mother of the Roca brothers from El Celler de Can Roca, was awarded the Catalan Gourmet of the Year award. – His son Josep Roca received the award.
-Cuina Magazine, director Judith Càlix and former director Josep Socarrats received the Business Career Award.
-The Business Growth in Internationalization Award was received by Marta Vidal, executive director of Cava Vallformosa.
-Ramon Pons, general manager of Hort del Silencia, received the Business Growth Award in Innovation.
