Food for Soul, founded by Chef Massimo Bottura and Lara Gilmore, will open its ninth Refettorio at Casa de Todos in Lima, Peru later this month.

The non-profit organisation that fights food waste and social isolation by serving meals at community kitchens called ‘Refettorios’ has partnered with Intermediario to make it happen, a social enterprise led by internationally renowned Peruvian chefs Diego Muñoz, Francisco Barrientos, Manlio Chichizola and Claudia Sofia Von in collaboration with the Beneficencia de Lima. Speaking about the new venture, Bottura said: “Opening Refettorios in this singular moment in history is not only our mission at Food for Soul but our responsibility. Lima is an iconic place where gastronomic culture thrives. Together with experienced partners, we aim to support the local community through a shared vision of hospitality at its very best. If you spread seeds of joy, creativity and good vibes, you’re going to create an amazing garden.”

Bottura’s Food for Soul project was born at the Milan Expo in 2015, and has since gathered global momentum, Fine Dining Lovers reported. This will be the second Food for Soul in South America after Refettorio Gastromotiva opened in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. Projects in other cities include Milan, Modena, Bologna, London, Paris, Naples, Mérida and Mexico.
