Emmanuel Renaut

Emmanuel Renaut is a celebrated French chef whose culinary vision is deeply rooted in the mountainous landscape of the French Alps. Born on 26 January 1968 in Soisy-sous- Montmorency and raised in the Picardy region, Renaut’s early experiences among fishing traditions and mountain retreats shaped his connection to nature and ingredients. He trained in Paris and London, working under renowned chefs such as Marc Veyrat and Christian Constant, before relocating to the ski resort village of Megève in 1998 to open his flagship restaurant, Flocons de Sel.

Renaut’s cuisine honours the Alpine terroir — foraged herbs, lake fish, local cheeses and mountain game feature prominently in his menus, where simplicity meets precision. His dedication to craft and locality has earned him some of the highest accolades in gastronomy: he was awarded the title of Meilleur Ouvrier de France in 2004, and Flocons de Sel achieved its third Michelin star in 2012. To this day he remains a leading figure in French fine dining, celebrated for translating the wild elegance of the mountains into plates that are both refined and rooted.
