More than 20 years ago, Juanjo López left a successful executive career to take over his father’s bar and founded La Tasquita de Enfrente in Madrid. Without compromising on tradition, he developed a refined, product-focused cuisine built on honesty, simplicity, and respect for ingredients. Shaped by his passion for art, literature, and travel, his restaurant, recommended by the MICHELIN Guide and awarded 2 Repsol Suns, has become a benchmark for authenticity and culinary excellence in Spain.

Recognized with prestigious awards such as the Plato Más Castizo (2016) and Professional Career Award (2023), López is also a respected gastronomic consultant and international speaker. In 2023, after 25 years at the helm, he entrusted the restaurant’s management to long-time collaborator Nacho Trujillo, continuing to champion a “cuisine with soul” philosophy centered on experience, origin, and trust in local producers.
